Role in the transaction
The escrow agent is an independent party — not Alghaf Marine — appointed for a specific transaction or programme. Its mandate is limited to controlling buyer funds and executing release or refund instructions when contractual conditions are met.
What the escrow agent does
- Identifies parties and accepts the escrow agreement
- Confirms the transaction-specific settlement account
- Controls locking of buyer funds
- Reviews milestone evidence uploaded to the Trading Portal
- Authorises staged release or contractual refund
- Records decisions in the transaction audit trail
What the escrow agent does not do
- Does not sell diesel or set commercial terms
- Does not determine product quality — inspection is separate
- Does not amend the SPA or act on verbal instructions alone
- Does not request private keys or seed phrases
